Altec Lansing Jacket H20 4 Portable Bluetooth Speaker Review

I love music and it seems like everywhere I go, and everything I do, I love to almost have a soundtrack for my life. I'm on the road a lot, and I listen to a lot of music while driving. I also spent quite a number of nights in hotel rooms. When I'm at home, I like to listen to music while baking or doing work in the garage.

For a long time, I would only listen with earbuds, but what if you want to have a conversation? I soon realized that what I needed was a Bluetooth speaker system. I mentioned this to my wife, and lo and behold, she bought me the Altec Lansing Jacket H20 4 Bluetooth portable speaker for my birthday.

  • The H20 speakers measure approximately 6 1/4" L x 2 1/4" H x 2" Deep.
  • It has a Bluetooth range of about 100 feet.
  • It's not listed anywhere how many watts are on the speakers.
  • It has a threaded hole at the bottom so you can mount it on a tripod.
  • It uses a regular Android charger (which comes with it).
  • It is waterproof, as long as the cap to the charging jack is closed.
  • Built-in microphone.

These speakers, on the whole, are very useful and have some very good advantages:

  • It's completely waterproof, so you can listen to it poolside without worry.
  • It is very easy to setup. Just turn it on and press the Bluetooth button for the first time and connect it to your phone.
  • It actually has a microphone in it, so you can talk on the phone through it while doing other things.
  • It fits in your pocket. You can really walk around with this thing and have good background music.
  • If you don't want it in your pocket, it has a lasso so you can stick your wrist in it.
  • It comes in various colors.
  • The bass on this speaker is great, especially considering its size. You really feel it.
  • It really floats!

With that said, there are a few things I would change, in a perfect world:

  • The upper limit on sound is not as high as I would like. It's great when it's close to you, but gets more than 10 feet away and starts to die quickly.
  • There is no wattage list anywhere on this speaker.

I use this speaker all the time and it really is a great addition to my music life. It's great for camping, hiking, hanging out by the pool, or grilling on your back porch. It is very portable and strong enough for its size. We bought it for about $50, and it's more than paid off. I highly recommend this speaker if you are like me and you want background music for all your favorite activities!
